Everything you need to know about visiting California cannabis lounges, getting listed, and how our directory works.
Yes. California law prohibits cannabis lounges from selling flower or concentrates for on-site consumption unless they hold a combined retailer + consumption license. Most lounges are consumption-only spaces - you bring what you purchased from a licensed dispensary nearby. Check each lounge's profile for details on what they allow.
A valid government-issued photo ID proving you are 21 or older. This means a driver's license, state ID, US passport, or military ID. Medical patients aged 18-20 may be admitted at some locations with a valid MMIC (Medical Marijuana Identification Card) - call ahead to confirm.
Yes. California's Bureau of Cannabis Control (now the Department of Cannabis Control, or DCC) issues Type 9 (non-storefront retailer) and Type 10 (storefront retailer) licenses that include consumption lounge endorsements. Cities and counties must also opt in and issue their own local permits. Every verified lounge in our directory holds a valid state license.
No. California law prohibits co-location of cannabis and alcohol consumption. Licensed cannabis lounges cannot serve alcohol, and most prohibit bringing it in.
It depends on the ventilation setup and local rules. Many lounges offer designated smoking rooms, vaporizer-only areas, or outdoor patios. Check the individual lounge's profile or call ahead if smoking (as opposed to vaping or edibles) is important to you.
No. Cannabis lounges are strictly 21+ - no exceptions, even if the person is not consuming.
